Frequently asked questions
What can I expect in a counselling session?
Therapy is a chance to slow down and explore your story in a supportive, non-judgmental space. The first session is often about getting to know each other and setting intentions for our work together. From there, sessions might involve exploring inner conflicts, processing emotions, clarifying values, and tuning into your body to help release tension.
What is the purpose of a free consultation?
A consultation is a short (usually 10-15 minute) phone or video call where we can get to know each other. It’s a chance for you to share what you’re looking for, ask any questions about the counselling process, and see how it feels to connect. There’s no pressure to commit, it’s simply a way to see if we’re a good fit before booking a full session.
Do you offer virtual counselling?
Yes! We work with clients online and in-person. Both options are great. It’s about what feels most comfortable for you.
Is counselling confidential?
Yes. What you share stays confidential, with a few exceptions related to safety (your therapist will go over these with you during intake).
Can I submit for reimbursement through my benefits?
Most extended health plans cover a number of sessions with a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC). We’ll provide you with an invoice after each session that you can submit directly to your insurance provider for reimbursement.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule a session?
If you need to cancel or reschedule, we ask you do so 24 hours before your session to avoid being charged the session fee. You can make changes through our online booking system at thirdspace.janeapp.com.
How do I get started?
